I have been on this list for what seems like forever! I have worked tirelessly to find scholarships to put my child through college since she was a freshman in high school. I was mostly unsuccessful so I took out student loans which I started paying back immediately so she wouldn’t have a hardship upon graduation. At the time it made sense but now as we approach senior year of college, I can’t even get a student loan! MEFA says my credit score is too low according to the credit company they use but another company says my score is over 700. I have to say as a senior citizen on a fixed income, I am desperate to find the funds to get my student through her final two semesters. Short of robbing a bank where can I find funding? HELP??? I’m truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re facing. It’s clear how much effort and care you’ve put into supporting your child’s education. Given your situation, I recommend reaching out to your child’s college financial aid office about emergency grants or special funding for seniors finishing their degrees. Additionally, exploring scholarships aimed at students in their final semesters and connecting with local nonprofits or community programs might provide some relief. Don’t hesitate to ask for help from multiple sources, as sometimes less-known resources can make a difference. I hope you find the support you need to help your child through these last semesters.
