LGBTQ Scholarships

If you are a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community, there are scholarships out there just for you. In addition, many of these scholarships are also open to LGBTQ+ allies.

Diversity in Esthetics

Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: August 31, 2022
Description: Scholarship is open to new or currently enrolled students in an esthetics program that leads to licensure at an accredited school in the U.S. who are either an ethic minority (including but not limited to: Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; Pacific Islander; or Asian) OR a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community; OR OR a person with a medically documented disability, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

AEF Scholarship
Sponsor: Acorn Equality Fund
Amount: Up to $4,000
Closing Date: September 23, 2022
Description: Scholarship is open to students who will retain permanent residence in the AEF service area of downstate Illinois and attend any accredited, post-secondary educational institution. Scholarships are designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered students, allies, or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered parents.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

Amount: $500
Closing Date: September 30, 2022
Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and who are from a group underrepresented in their field of study.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships
Sponsor: API Study Abroad

Closing Date: October 30, 2022
Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, DACA students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Pride Foundation Scholarships
Sponsor: Pride Foundation
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: January 7, 2023
Description: Applicant must be a resident of the Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington) and pursuing post-secondary education. Applicant must also be LGBTQ or a straight ally student leader.
