  2. It’s very cool, I’ve always dreamed of getting such a scholarship and I hope that someday I will succeed. Lately, I’ve started working hard on it and started watching a lot of movies, but not for fun. Films can also improve my knowledge of English considerably. I should say that it’s not something I’m into for a long time; I started to practice the use of cinema for education some months ago. Nevertheless, I see its effectiveness and usefulness already. The good thing is that you don’t need any additional resources except for the Internet and a notebook or a Word document for notes. So what is so great about a movie as an education platform?
First off, if you compare studying English from a textbook and learning the conversational language, you will see that these are very different. Academic language is good, but isn’t that better to be in your element among native speakers? Watching the movies, I tend to search out unknown and exciting phrases and words. Sometimes it’s not easy to keep pace with native speakers who speak really fast. For that reason, you can find the script of a movie or watch it with subtitles. Besides, it is convenient to hear the correct way of pronunciation and emphasis. If you like British English — you can watch British movies. If you want to listen to the California accent — you can find such films as well.
Once, I was supposed to prepare online writing on global warming. It seems that the topic is not challenging. Yet, I couldn’t pull myself together, and the deadline was really short. Thus, back then, the PapersOwl writing service solved the problem. At that time, I also binge-watched documentaries — the one on global warming was among the first ones. As professional writers were working on my paper, I discovered my favorite way to improve my English. It helped me to understand the terms and vocabulary overall.
Another positive thing about watching films is the context. All the dialogues and monologues have some context and prehistory. You may remember that every fifth English word has got several meanings that depend on the context. Therefore, the best way to learn new words is to find diverse meanings and set these in context. Movies help a lot in this case, as you can remember the dialogue and, thus, the meaning of the word or phrase. Besides, if you watch specific documentaries or films, you will be good at one particular thematic vocabulary.
I hope that in some time, when I improve all my skills, such scholarships will become real for me. You’re doing a cool job.
