April 2020 Scholarships

Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with April 2020 due dates. Check out the full list of April Scholarships – there are currently just under 200 scholarships on the list! More scholarships will be added as they become available.

Only brief information about each scholarship is listed. Therefore, students are encouraged to visit the scholarship websites to get further details about eligibility and requirements.

AFSA High School Senior Scholarship Contest
Sponsor: American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA)
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: April 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are citizens and aliens legally residing in the United States. Applicant must read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” and then take a ten question multiple-choice test. Student will receive an entry into a drawing for each question answered correctly.

Little Sweet Baker Science Scholarship
Sponsor: Little Sweet Baker
Amount: $500
Closing Date: April 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current undergraduate students attending a U.S. or Canadian college or university and enrolled in a science program. Applicant must submit an essay on why they chose to study science and what they plan on doing after they graduate.

Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition – Radio
Sponsor: Advertising Council
Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: April 1, 2020
Description: Competition is open to high school juniors and seniors and current undergraduate students. Applicant must create a radio recording of 20 second that discourages distracted driving.

Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition – Video
Sponsor: Advertising Council
Amount: Up to $8,000
Closing Date: April 1, 2020
Description: Competition is open to high school juniors and seniors and current undergraduate students. Applicant must submit a video that encourages friends to avoid distracted driving.

Golden Apple Scholars
Sponsor: Golden Apple
Amount: Up to $23,000 over four years
Closing Date: April 3, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens (DACAmented students) who are residents of Illinois and will graduate high school in 2020.

Educators Rising Scholarships
Sponsor: Educators Rising
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: April 6, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors intending to attend college and major in education.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes
Sponsor: Barron Prize
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: April 15, 2020
Description: Award is open to students between the ages of eight and 18 years of age who are permanent residents of and currently residing in the U.S. or Canada. Applicant must be currently working on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months.

We The Students Scholarship Contest
Sponsor: Bill of Rights Institute
Amount: Up to $7,500
Closing Date: April 15, 2020
Description: Contest is open to students in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Armed Forces schools abroad, and students in U.S. territories who are in grades 8-12 and between the ages of 14-19. Student must submit an essay on the prompt, “What does civil discourse mean to you?”

All About Education Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: April 30, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt.

E-waste Scholarship
Sponsor: Digital Responsibility
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: April 30, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school students and current or entering college or graduate students at any level. Applicant must answer in 140-characters or less “the most important reason to care about e-waste is…”
