Scholarship Saturday – December 22, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Safe Jobs for Youth Month Poster Contest
Sponsor: YoungWorkers.org
Amount: Up to $300
Closing Date: January 8, 2019
Description: Contest is open to California teens between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. Contestant must create a poster on the theme, “Safe Jobs for Youth.”

Carson Scholars
Sponsor: Carson Scholars Fund
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: January 9, 2019
Description: Scholars program is open to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Applications must be requested by school officials. Applicant must have at least a 3.75 GPA.

Legacy Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Army Women’s Foundation
Amount: Up to $2,500
Closing Date: January 9, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to women who have served or are serving honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard or the child of a woman who served honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard. Applicant must a current community college or certificate student with at least a 2.5 GPA or a current undergraduate or graduate student with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Ron Brown Scholar Program
Sponsor: Ron Brown Scholar Program
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: January 9, 2019
Description: Scholars program is open to African-American/Black high school seniors who excel academically and demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship.

APIA Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund
Amount: Up to $20,000
Closing Date: January 10, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students who are of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity and are citizens, nationals, or legal permanent residents of the United States. Applicant must be enrolling as an undergraduate student in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall of 2019. Special focus will be given to students who live at or below the poverty level and/or are the first in their family to attend college.

AWSC Scholarship
Sponsor: Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs
Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: January 10, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are current members in the AWSC and plan to pursue further education in an accredited two or four-year institution of higher learning.

Junior Duck Stamp Contest
Sponsor: United States Fish & Wildlife Service
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: January 10, 2019
Description: Contest is open to students in grades K-12 who attend public, private, or home schools in the United States and the U.S. territories. Contestant must draw, paint, or sketch a picture of an eligible North American waterfowl species. Deadline only for South Carolina – other states have later deadlines.

Kelly Lynn Lutz Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor: Kelly Lynn Lutz Foundation
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: January 10, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to current college students in Kansas and Missouri who have lost at least one parent (biological or non) to cancer before the age of 22. Applicant must have an interest in education, arts, environment, math, or science.

Women’s Western Golf Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor: Women’s Western Golf Foundation (WWGF)
Amount: $10,000 over four years
Closing Date: January 10, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to female high school seniors who are active participants in the sport of golf and have at least a 3.5 GPA.

2nd Opportunity Research Scholarship
Sponsor: American Veterinary Medical Foundation
Amount: $6,000
Closing Date: January 11, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to veterinary students who have previously conducted a summer research project and are seeking to gain a second summer of research experience.
