  1. Is there anything for a veteran on SSI pursuing a master’s degree in hopes of getting a degree to get off SSI, and return to work?

  2. I am wondering if you came across any scholarships for students who would like an opportunity to attens private/catholic middle or high schools?

    • Hi Meghan. I have not seen any scholarships to help pay for secondary education, but that is probably because I haven’t been looking for it. I did an initial search and found that there are some scholarships Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and the Children’s Scholarship Fund. I also recommend checking with the school’s administration, as well as the local church diocese, to see if there are possibilities for scholarships or discounts.

    • Contact the Catholic Diocese in your area and the actual Parish/school . They do have scholorships

      • Yes, great tip for students! Looking locally for scholarships is a great way to find scholarships that are not always advertised widely. Plus, local scholarships typically have a smaller applicant pool since the requirements are so specific. Again, great tip!

    • Hi Paula. I have not come across any scholarships for incoming Occupational Therapy students. The ones I have found, such as Physical Therapist Scholarship, all require students to have completed at least one year of undergradaute work. So, keep these types of scholarships on your calendar and apply next year after you have a year of study under your belt. In the meantime, apply to the scholarships that are open to incoming college students that do not have a major requirement – there are MANY of them.

  3. Hi Kira. I have not found any specific scholarships for high school students who will be preparing to be a veterinarian. Most of the scholarships I have found for vet students are for college upperclassmen. However, that does not mean there are not scholarships for you. Apply for the scholarships that have no major requirements – there are MANY that are open to students who will be studying anything. In addition, scholarships looking for students studying sciences may also work for you since pre-vet programs are all about science – just make sure you read the requirements closely.

  4. Are there any scholarships for single mom’s looking to return to college along with her two college son’s?

  5. Hi, my daughter is getting ready to go to college and study Veterinarian. Are there any scholarships that she can apply to that you know of.

  6. is there any scholarships for soon to be freshmen going into agriscience education? I have did all the FFA scholarships..

    • Unfortunately I have not found any agriscience scholarships for incoming freshman students. However, there are many scholarships out there that do not have major requirements – those could be good options for your student right now. In addition, the financial aid office and/or the department office at the college might have some information about scholarships your student may qualify for. Good luck!

  7. May I ask if there are any scholarships for incoming undergraduate freshman in the Physician Assistant program?

    • Hi Shannon. I do not know of any specific scholarships for students in a Physician Assistant program. However, your student should be eligible for scholarships open to students studying a field related to healthcare. You should be able to find some here: https://jlvcollegecounseling.com/scholarships/scholarships-by-major/medical/ In addition, don’t have your child limit their scholarship search to just those open to Physician Assistant/Healthcare majors – instead, apply also to scholarships open to all majors. I wish you luck!

However, here is a scholarships that might be of interest for you – The Summer Challenge Scholarship from College Greenlight. It is open to minority students. http://blog.collegegreenlight.com/blog/the-summer-challenge-scholarship/

Searching for scholarships that are specific to you (Speech Pathology, African American, Female, etc.) is a great way to make sure the applicant pool is smaller. However, don’t ignore the scholarships that are open to all majors – you might find some that are great fits for you! Here is one you might want to look into: Adam Greenman American Dream Scholarship – http://www.adamgreenmanlaw.com/diversity-scholarship/

      Good luck!

  12. Hi,

First off, thank you for putting this list together! Have you seen public health scholarships, or adult women of color?

    • Hi Paola.

I am so happy to share these scholarship opportunities. I do not know of any specific Public Health scholarships that are open right now, but I will keep looking for scholarships and will add them to my scholarship database as I find them. You may consider looking at the scholarships I have listed under “Medical Scholarships” – some are specific to pre-med, but others are more general in the health industry: https://jlvcollegecounseling.com/scholarships/scholarships-by-major/medical/

In addition, I have a list of scholarships that are open to non-traditional students (adult students over 25): https://jlvcollegecounseling.com/scholarships/age/scholarships-for-non-traditional-students/

Lastly, I am working on lists of scholarships open to specific race/ethnicities. For example, there will be a list of scholarships open to African American students. This list should be live on my website by the end of the month.

I wish you luck with your scholarship search!

  19. Hello Jessica,
My name is Leslie and I’m going to be a first generation Hispanic student. I was wondering if you found any scholarships for Hispanics?

    • Hi Leslie. I am trying to build my scholarship list and will be looking for scholarships for Hispanic/Latino students. I am really hoping to get lists for scholarships based on race onto my website very soon (stay tune) 🙂

In the meantime, here is one scholarship that is open to minority students that does not have any other specific requirements (I have others, but they require specific majors or locations).

The Summer Challenge Scholarship from College Greenlight – http://blog.collegegreenlight.com/blog/the-summer-challenge-scholarship/#sthash.EsVo07BU.GQXlAJ8h.dpbs

Good luck! And, again, stay student because there will be a list of scholarships open to Hispanics/Latinos on my website very soon.

  20. Thank you for this listing and I applaud your efforts. Are the essays graded by external entities or those sponsoring them. We have tried several and received no response. It is dishardening to the student… as parents we have to make sure our kids understand that thousands of others are applying also. Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket…

    • Hi Petal. I completely understand that it can be disheartening when students spend their time on scholarships and then never hear back. The way scholarship providers choose to award their scholarships is completely up to them. From my experience, I have seen that many of these scholarship providers use internal individuals to serve on their scholarship committee and choose the winner(s). My biggest piece of advice when applying to scholarships is to ensure the students are sending in scholarship applications/essays that stand out. If someone can send in the same application/essay, they probably will and the student will probably not stand out or win the scholarship.

I wish your child luck as he or she is applying for scholarships!

  21. Hi Jessica! I have been searching high and low for scholarships for international students and students of single parent, but there doesn’t seem to be much floating around. Have you come across any as yet?

  26. Hi madam

    Thank you

    • Hello. When looking for help in paying for college, the first place to look is the colleges you are considering. If you need help paying for college, it is best to find colleges that offer generous financial aid packages. From there, check out my list of scholarships: https://jlvcollegecounseling.com/scholarships/

I am currently working on a list of scholarships that are open to international students. Hopefully that list will help you!
